Adult Chin Acne
How to Combine Contact Irritation Management and Herbal Medicine Treatment for Recurrent Chin Acne Before Menstruation or After Overtime Work
We categorize the timing and depth of acne returning to the jawline and explain the respective roles of skincare, herbal medicine, and acupuncture treatment. In particular, we do not lump together the redness that appears late after a week's overtime and the recurrence in the same spot every month as the same type of chin acne.
Chin acnecannot be explained by hormones alone. You should immediately reduce contact irritants such as masks and shaving. After determining whether it is a flare that appears a few days after working overtime or a recurrence that returns to the same spot along with the menstrual cycle, we use Korean herbal medicine to address the internal Recurrence conditions.
| Changes to monitor | Details to record | Reason for asking during evaluation |
|---|---|---|
| Menstruation/Hormones | New acne appearing before or after the cycle | Regularity of the timing of recurrence |
| Products/Friction | Start date of using masks, shaving, or hair products | Timeline of contact and clogging |
| Medications/Supplements | New medications and dosages | Possibility of medication-related worsening |
| Sleep/Stress | Changes in the week prior to worsening | Identifying recurring patterns rather than concluding a direct cause |
The type of acne that recurs is more important than the location on the chin
Small Closed comedonesbumps appearing densely around the mouth, painful acne deep along the jawline, or pustular acnewhether these spread determines the order of treatment. While all are called chin acne, the proportion of clogged pores, contact irritation, and deep inflammation varies.
Baekrokdam does not conclude that there is an organ or hormonal issue based solely on the location on the face. By observing the depth of the acne, the interval at which it returns to the same spot, Red marksand how long it lasts, we determine which inflammation needs to be reduced first.
Masks, shaving, and touching the face are recurrence factors you can reduce starting today
If acne recurs only where the edges of a mask, chin rests, razor blades, or mobile phones touch, friction and contact play a large role. You can lower new irritation simply by changing the direction of shaving, keeping blades clean, and reducing habits like resting your chin on your hand or touching acne.
If small pustular acne on the surface has decreased through contact management but deep jawline acne continues to appear, there is no reason to be even stricter with lifestyle management alone. When both external irritation and internal recurring conditions exist, the two must be treated separately.

Before assuming it is a hormonal issue based solely on the jawline location, check if the dates align with changes in menstruation, skincare products, medication, or friction.
Deep acne that recurs before menstruation or after working overtime is treated in conjunction with the body's rhythm
If your jawline becomes firmly swollen before every menstruation, accompanied by worsening menstrual cramps, constipation, or a cold sensation in the lower abdomen, we examine the influence of your cycle and blood stasis. Conversely, if red, painful inflammatory acne appears on the jaw with a one-to-two day time lag following a week of overtime work, late meals, and lack of sleep, it may be more due to a work-rhythm delayed flare. For the former, we record the recurrence of the same location and timing on a calendar to adjust the prescription for the next cycle; for the latter, we must separately record whether the recovery sequence of that week or the recovery of sleep and diet over the next two days comes first, so that the treatment goals do not get mixed.
Herbal medicine treatment begins by lowering the red, purulent heat, while adjusting the proportions of regulating menstruation, regulating moisture, and nourishing yin to match patterns where menstruation, digestion, and sleep are unstable. This is why we do not use the same prescription for everyone, even for the same jaw acne.
Acupuncture treatment and skin care divide their roles so that deep inflammation subsides and recovers
During periods when inflammation is deep and painful, we avoid irritating extraction and exfoliationdo not repeat it. While continuing necessary dermatological treatments and low-irritation cleansing and moisturizing skin barrierto maintain the skin barrier, acupuncture treatment is performed in parallel to help relieve tension and improve local circulation around the jaw and neck.
After the red inflammation has decreased, we observe the interval of new nodulesbreakouts and the speed at which marks fade. Rather than pushing for the treatment of active acne and marks/scars all at once, we first stabilize newly forming acne to give the skin time to recover.

If new acne and fading marks overlap in one area, it is more helpful to correlate the dates of occurrence with menstruation, sleep, or product changes than to look at the location alone.
The goal is skin where jaw acne does not fluctuate significantly even with menstruation and overtime work
When treatment is successful, rather than becoming perfectly clear throughout the month, the number of deep, painful acne lesions first decreases, and the interval at which they return to the same spot lengthens. If it is a flare following overtime work, the recovery range over the next two days widens; if it is a menstrual recurrence, changes such as a decrease in the depth and pain of inflammation that returned like a cluster every cycle are seen first. If you record whether this flare is a two-day lag after overtime or a recurrence returning to the same spot 3–5 days before menstruation, we can more accurately shift the weight between lifestyle management and cycle adjustment in the next treatment.
Baekrokdam does not ask you to perfectly control your life. We widen the range in which the skin can endure within your actual menstrual cycle and work schedule, and lower the scale of recurrence by linking contact-irritation reduction care with herbal medicine and acupuncture treatment. Whether deep inflammation does not spread significantly even after a busy week demonstrates the change created by the treatment.
Jaw acne requires a distinction between contact irritation and conditions for deep recurrence. Friction should be reduced immediately, while inflammation that repeats alongside menstruation, sleep, and digestion is managed with herbal medicine and acupuncture to change the interval of new acne and the speed of recovery.
